We can worship God anywhere

It is Sunday morning and today in America people will gather in their communities, in homes, and in buildings called 'church' to hear the word of the Lord and to lift minds, hearts and souls in adoration, and thanksgiving to God.

In the midst of worship and praise, God makes Himself known.

The people of God and all those who seek Him will meet one another and join together to give praise in singing songs that express their faith in words, giving sentiment to the Holy One whose life has become life.

Many in parts of the world must go to secret places to worship and meet with the fellowship of believers as their lives would be at considerable risk if openly professing Christ.

Many today will meet in places of dirt, sand, water, and open fields and many will gather on street corners, in alleys and behind buildings as they have no homes and no place to go where they are accepted, approved or wanted to lift their hearts in one accord.

Others will lift tired, worn hearts to God, desperate for a touch, solace and comfort. Many will be alone in grief and loss, lifting exhausted souls to the One whose presence abides. Many will raise their hearts as they breathe their last breath, thanking God for the life they knew in Him.

There are individuals who will worship God from jails, prisons, mental institutions, hospital beds, hospice beds, sick beds, and from beds confined by chronic illness. The act of worshipping God flows from those with broken hearts, questioned wondering, doubting unknowns, and in unfamiliar places of displacement.

Many will worship God in aloneness, poverty, despair, anguish and suffering. Worship is not just one style or done in one place, nor does any denomination hold the only right way to give thanks to God. Worship is done in solitude, and everywhere we are and whenever we want to honor God.

Worship is not just carried out in a building called 'church' for we, the body of Christ are the living church, expressing the life of Jesus in the ordinariness of our days.

The mysterious union we have in Christ is our worship and is our sacrifice and is our life.

We become nourished, nurtured, renewed, refreshed, and revived in our spirits in each encounter and in each meeting with God. When we participate in his divine holiness through our surrendered worship --- right where we are, we encounter God.
