And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his mind was troubled and his sleep break from him. Then the King commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to show the King his dreams. So, they came and stood before the King
(Daniel 2: 1, 2) In just two short years Nebuchadnezzar had reached his peak of wickedness and now everything is about to change. The king who was in control of everything has become unraveled by a dream. Until now, Nebuchadnezzar thought he was the supreme ruler of the world but his world is beginning a downward course. The problem that he faced was that he could not remember the dream or interpret it. He called all his wise men of the day and commanded that they give him the meaning. Recognizing the possibility of deception, he demanded that they tell him what the dream was and what it meant. Failure to do so would result in death and destruction. The dream was a message from God to Nebuchadnezzar, and the good news is that God had His representatives close by to help. When Daniel heard the news, he requested time to consider the problem. He and his friends prayed and God gave the message of the dream to the king through them. Daniel was in a place where God could use him. Scripture tells us that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much” (James 5: 16). The challenge is: If you want to find God’s answer to your problem seek out a Godly person. To ask a backslidden person for help is like the king seeking answers from his wise men.
