The Heat Is On

When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.” Again he denied it. Mark 14:69-70a NIV

Peter must have really felt the heat coming on. He was not able to avoid the servant girl who had previously told the surrounding people that Peter was a follower of Jesus.

I recently saw an ad on television where a close relative of a former U.S. President proclaimed that he was an atheist, and supported a group called Freedom From Religion. This individual also stated that they did not fear being in hell eternally. For such a one I do pray. I don’t understand how someone could actually not fear such a fate. So, persecution of Christians does exist even in the U.S. Our following Christ is one thing that we cannot compromise on. If the heat is applied, we need look no further than the suffering Christ endured on our behalf. Do not deny the Lord.
