Heaven’s Mandatory Requirement

While we live in this mortal world, our citizenship is recognized and identified by the country to which we belong, the spiritual person in us is either a citizen of heaven or a citizen of hell, for there is no other place in eternity.

“Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David.” Luke 2:4 (NKJV)

While we have to fulfill the requirements of the governments we belong to so we may continue to abide as worthy citizens in this world, we have a great responsibility towards God to Whom we belong.

Paul encourages the church reminding them of their heavenly citizenship…

“ For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” Philippians 3:20-21 (NKJV)       

Yet for the above to effect in our life, we need to do this…

“Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.” Philippians 4:1 (NKJV)

Standing fast and standing strong in our faith in Christ is not so easy, for the devil is on the continuous lookout to falter any whom he can from the blessedness of following the Lord Jesus Christ.

In Ephesians Chapter 6, Paul describes how we can stand strong as a Christian..

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV)

The armor of God is described in detail from vs 14 to 18.

Even though we dwell in this world, let us be mindful that we dwell in mortal bodies and in a mortal world, which one day will surely pass away, only our spiritual person will continue to live on till eternity and thus we need to ensure that we keep and continue to be worthy citizens of heaven. Let nothing we do at any time endanger our eternal citizenship, and as the love of God continues to persuade us to be faithful to Him, let us heed to His call for faithfulness and for a blessed eternity.

Paul reminds us of yet another blessed position we hold- “Ambassadors of Christ”.

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”

2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV) 

As a country’s Ambassador should always be connected to his/her country and represent it wherever they go, so should we represent Christ wherever we are. I am not sure if there is any country in this world where all the citizens are Ambassadors, however for heaven-this a mandatory requirement.

So remember! We are citizens and ambassadors of heaven and we shall thus live, behave and abide forever, for this is our blessed calling and required accountability.
