Baubles and ribbons hang from  heavy boughs, 
Smells from the kitchen,  our Mum's on her toes!

Dad I in the meantime,  you'll find on the phone, 
Catching the news from his brother at home.

T.V. shows, cartoons, our favourite show,
Outside,  our gardens are covered with snow. 

Scraps of  gift wrapping is strewn on the ground, 
Smiles on our faces,  Such joy to be found!

Aunty has found our old bottle of sherry, 
Granddad has lit his cigar, which is smelly.

Nana has drunk a few wines on the side, 
She doesn't need them,  she's puffed up with pride. 

This is Christmas, 
Come to greet us 
For one day of the year.
Mum and Dad laughs as his jokes are re told,
While all of us know
Love's here!

Sandy from next door pops in at eleven, 
Her husband left her and found seventh heaven 

With  a young girl who lives just up the street,
They played the field but could not be discreet!

Joe, round the corner is out on parole. 
Mum often sends him round cheese and ham rolls. 

It's not his fault,  many times she has said,
Doesn't cost much to share a loaf of bread. 

This is Christmas, 
Come to greet us 
For one day of the year. 
Mum and Dad laughs as his jokes are re told 
While all of us know 
Love's here!
