HERE LIES UNCLE SAM

PRELUDE

What if I showed you a real live mystery? One that in today's vernacular is so immense that it spans our great country of America? A mystery of unseen proportion that affects every aspect of our lives, directs the paths of America's leaders and determines the very nature of America for decades to come. A mystery that could bring an end to America's freedom.

"I wouldn't believe it," you'd say.

No, I wouldn't have either, if I hadn't seen with my own eyes, and heard it with my own ears.

"What do you mean, having seen it and heard it?"

It's an ongoing, misleading political process about three years in the making. A single development, if it becomes reality, would be a concept so powerful that it could possibly change the scope of America's founding freewill and liberty. Its enlightenment would change America monetary, social and religious environment for years to come. It would be an unjust impeachment.

This process is actually brought about by an unseen war of many spiritual battles, not between flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of darkness, against its spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places. Our enemies are the demonic hosts of Satan, always assembled for mortal combat. (Ephesians 6:12)  

We now live in a country ensnared by chaos, in dire need of divine help to fight such a war. Please read (Ephesians 6:13-29). As you read through this rather unique vision, give it much thought.

Here it is. It's a real live vision of sorts worth the reading, entitled  "HERE LIES UNCLE SAM"   

"In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.  I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.  No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.  Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long." (Psalm 25:105)

I was getting ready to attend my party's political rally. All of a sudden, I had what appeared to be a real-life vision. I quickly found myself in the middle of my country's political capital. What I saw was virtually unbelievable.  

There it was, lying in state at the US Capitol rotunda, a unique, decorated coffin resting on an ornate gold-inlayed platform, awaiting the final touches.     

This coffin was distinctively draped by the customary US Flag. However, splayed across the big flag was a very unpatriotic one-word inscription "Impeachment."

Suddenly, I was greeted by an unknown gentleman, speaking and acting the part of an accomplished politician. 

He spoke, "Apparently, the final expected action has not yet been taken. Here lying by this coffin are a few well-placed nails which will surely complete the final unprecedented sealing and unlawful act."

"The end of an ongoing task of some three years in the making is to be concluded by a commission of elected people placed into command by the wishes of the people."

"This commission will now nail in place the dictates of injustice, and put to rest their plan of action weighed in the balance for over three years. Weighed in the balance and found wanting."

"Just who is this conquering hero lying in state?"  I asked.

His answer was, "The one and only celebrated American icon is the one gracing this luxurious, posh monument, waiting to be sealed forever. Every red-blooded American's own uncle, Here lies Uncle Sam."

"Our very own superman, our champion of justice, our spokesperson of the people's choice who for decades has stood against evildoers," he went on. "He has graced America with such God-fearing mottos as "In God We Trust" and "The Land Of The Free, The Home Of The Brave."

"Sadly and unfortunately we are watching injustice in action. Our elected officials, those who promised to do the will of the people, will take hold of the hammers of destruction, and hammer in the final nails of freedom's annihilation. Nails meant to destroy America's liberty by abolishing the will of America's people."

"Those are the nails of the annihilation of such Constitutional dictates endowed by our Creator such as our unalienable rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, and obliterating our God-given safety, happiness and prudence as well."

"They will be sealing forever America's freedom dictates of a more perfect union, of established justice, of insured domestic tranquility, of our common defense, promotion of general welfare, and secured liberty," he depressingly concluded.

"Wow, what a patriotic speech!" I said. "Are you an angel incarnate (Hebrews 13:2), or simply a lay preacher in disguise? Whoever you are, you are right on. Do these elected comrades of injustice not realize that a move of this proportion, whether successful or not, will perpetually hinder America's propensity of freedom for decades to come?"

He then continued with his dissertation, "We tend to misleadingly place blame for this political uprising on a particular political faction. Truth be known, it's much deeper than that. It goes all the way back to the beginning, to human life itself. It started with the prideful fall of Satan from Heaven, (Isaiah 14:12-17 down to the Garden of Eden.(Genesis 3:1-7) And it has continued to our Twenty-First century," he answered.   

He went on, "These elected officials, whether actually realizing it or not, are being used by and are simply playing into Satan's overall plan, not for America only, but for the entire universe." (Isaiah 5:20)

"However, the Bible tells us if we resist the Devil he will flee from us.(James 4:7) Not only should we resist the Devil, but also resist his attributes. We should stand up and fight against all evil generated schemes, including any unlawful plans or ideas proposed by our elected officials, especially those that would wreak havoc on America for generations to come."

"You see, unbeknownst to many politicians, such ungodly, political schemes tend to have a lasting evil effect on America's populace," he said,  stopping to get his breath.

"Well, again you are right on," I said. "So how do we, as proud Americans fight this unjust, unlawful act of impeachment?"

He answered, "We need to start with much-needed prayer and hold to the Bible principles. There's a church on virtually every corner of America. If every Christian would only pray, we would have no problem. You see, if ungodly representatives are not elected, they can't hurt us," he concluded his speech.

"Wow, again! What a sermon! You surely must be an old time religion preacher," I exclaimed. "Preacher, oh preacher, were did you go? Where did all the related surroundings go?"

Yes, my vision ended as suddenly as it had started. There was a strange conclusion however, to this vision of sorts. This long-winded politician did not meet me in the capitol rotunda, as envisioned.  I had simply tuned in to a well-known conservative religious TV talk show, where the host was speaking freely from the US Capitol building.  A change of events, you might say. I guess it was a vision of sorts, divinely directed straight at me. Amen!

EPILOGUE (Taken in part from David Cook's book of "Romans, God's Perfect Plan")

"In recent years, we have seen an upward trend in cynicism among the electorate round the world. Many people do not think highly of politics, politicians or government.

The state has obligations and so do we. We live in a democracy whereby we vote for those who will govern us every three or four years. Apathy and ignorance of politics can be subtle forms of rebellion against God. We are to vote intelligently, seek the truth and make assessments based on Biblical conviction, and not be swept along by the media. We may choose to write to newspapers, lobby for the good, and even join a political party. 

Christians have a variety of attitudes towards their governments:
Ignore them - because we are not of this world or its political system;
Total adherence to government - because it is regarded as equivalent to God;
Rebellion - because the government is deemed as an agent of evil;

Limited jurisdiction - because the Lord Jesus taught in Matthew 22 that the state and God have appropriate claims on us. However, God's authority and claim over us must always take top priority.

A word of caution here: If you believe you can share the gospel by joining

a political party, by all means do so, but don't idealize the party. All parties, like religious denominations, have something commendable about them but they are still imperfect human groupings. God is a God of order and the authority is an instrument of such order. The political party is an instrument of serving human needs, just as the denomination is an instrument of serving the gospel's broadcast. When either a political party or denomination ceases to do that and so compromises you by turning you away from doing these things, then it is time to leave, for we have a higher loyalty to God and to His purpose."
