Still pondering this mystery, 
The romance between he and she ,
On bended knee, I bow to you, to beg.
The Rooster thought he'd flown the coop, 
The Hen decided they should roost, 
So, who came first, 
The chicken or the egg?

I've thought about the broody Hen,
Her man escaping from his Pen 
And wondered to myself, 
Were feathers flown?

Did he crow before the sun arose 
While quoting poetry and prose 
And was his Hen the only Hen he'd known?

I don't wish to be personal, 
But was the egg a boy or girl 
And was the shell seen speckled, 
Brown or white?

Did the Hen then knit a cardigan
While roosting?
It is pardonable, 
Assuming he would take her as his wife!

Did he smoke a pipe while pondering 
The Universe,  at best, at worst
And did she have his feathers often cleaned?
Were  the chicks sent off to Sunday School,
With Nannies, who were often cruel,
And bullied them to have their feathers preened?

Now Sunday fry ups rears it's head, 
Crispy bacon, toast and egg, 
Steaming coffee, this will quench my thirst!
Still pondering this mystery, 
The romance between he and she 
And all I'm asking you is 
Who Came first?
