At times we are all like Herod, seeking some grand sign, some striking evidence, some spectacular performance from Jesus (as if he hadn't already done far more than enough in our lives) instead of deepening our appreciation of His day to day faithfulness in the so called little things. After Pilate sought to teach the Master "a lesson" or "reform" him with a beating to satisfy the blood lust of the people, the mob still demanded the crucifixion of the One Pilate knew to be blameless. At other times we are like Pilate too, seeking to pass the buck in diffiicult no win situation. He had  sent him to Herod learning that He was a Galilean. At that moment there was reconciliation and peace between Herod and Pilate who had been at odds. Jesus didn't have to speak a word of mediation. He simply passed physically between them as the Prince of Peace and there was restoration in the relationship. Eventually the mob had its way selfish demand for the cross granted as they shouted down all protest, unaware they were fulfilling the very plan of God for his beloved Son, who John the Baptist had recognized as the sacrificial  Lamb of God who had to be offered up to take away the sins of the World.

Thanks for your message. We certainly can be like Herod and Pilate at times. May we remain focused on our Lord. God bless you!
