“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5: 3-10
In this article I’d like to talk about the person of Jesus and the matters of his heart that he was interested in. As his children we were to him his utmost interest along with pleasing his father throughout his entire life. He cared about our hearts and loved us so much that he died on the cross for us and our sins. He literally practiced what he preached in every way universally conceivable without sin.
I believe the beatitudes are a revelation of what the true, genuine matters of Jesus’ heart were. When Jesus states the beatitudes, he is almost expressing what he is interested in (in peoples hearts and in this world). He is stating what and who he stands for and I also believe the beatitudes reveal what Christs heart truly cared about.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 5:3 Christ was so accepting of everyones hearts more than anyone as he seeked out the outcasts, prostitutes, tax collectors, sinners, etc. He had no qualms sticking up for the outcasts of society and transforming these people into saints giving them new life.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” Matthew 5:4 Christ truly cared for those who were suffering in pain, agony, bondage, and slavery. All he wanted to do was wipe their tears from their eyes and he did that through his miracles and finally by his death on the cross. He truly was the most compassionate and gracious man to ever live.
To sum it up: I love Jesus. I love that he didn’t need a stage, lights, and effects to get people to listen. He had a Mount. I love that he waited and listened to his father and though equal to him he submitted and made himself a servant to his father. I love his simplicity. I love how he sees into the heart and not the outside. I love that he defends ones that others make fun of. I love that he doesn’t see a prostitute; but he sees someones daughter.
I love his boldness. I love his mysterious ways. I love that when I see impossible, he laughs, and proves me wrong. I love that in a universe of stars, galaxies, and people he wants to sit with me this morning. I love that he took my death note and made it a love letter. He is so kind, so peaceful, so fun, so gracious, so passionate and so alive! Blessed is Jesus the lamb of God and compassionate teacher!
