As far as I know, I have not heard anyone give acknowledgement or welcome to the addition of a new angel to their church congregation during their baby dedication. If our little precious babies come to stay, then their guardian angel comes to stay on earth as well. New messengers are continually accepting, perhaps for the first time, posts here on earth which may last for the seventy-plus years of a child’s life. They become a new addition to our cities, to our planet, and particularly to our church family, where they will, by love, guard, talk to, and serve our love-joys with unearthly diligence and patience.

But I do...

While the officials and parents are dedicating the new babies, I count the number of people present in the audience, double that number, and add one more. Then I give heartfelt interest and thanks to the God for giving these dear first-borns to our congregation, and for being thoughtful enough to commission an angel to be a forever-friend to our precious children. Especially, so near the ends of the world.

Prayer: I give you thanks, Father, once again for thy loving kindness, for thy guardians who come into our lives before first breath, and who come with us early or late to all of our Prayer Councils. In our spirit-moving mind-worships we know they sing into our songs of praise a higher harmony, while you look in with divine acceptance. We thank you for your years of watch-service to all your church children. Amen.
