Down from a cloud-high sky

Thy verdured molecules fly,

Microscopic floral glens

Mirroring the way gold-brindled leaves

Stair-step downward in a cooling autumn light—

Dance step,

Flip,

     Dance step,

     Fall,

And then a sliding wind nudges over…

In cyanobic hordes they come,

Sailing unseen within our changed dome,

Sallying into the greened new grasses,

Into the brown cracks of rocks;

To die there,

Curled crusted remembrances

—And curses too—

That E-nounce with their lifetimes

Thy ancient pleading grievances;

Holding forth with true hands the blessings

Which aforetime framed Thy pure first law.
