Lord God,

I thank you for forgiving us for our sins and for giving us the hope of eternal life,

Through Jesus our lord and saviour,

I thank you that in him you free us from our slavery to sin,

And that you call us to new lives of holiness,

Please convict us of the emptiness and foolishness of chasing after sinful desires,

Remind us that all sin ultimately leads to death,

And teach us to set our minds on things above,

On the things that are good, meaningful, pure and glorifying to you,

Please teach us that true satisfaction is not found in living for selfish desires,

But is found in living in relationship with you,

Turn our hearts from anything that would take our eyes off you,

And help us to find true joy and satisfaction in you,

The only one who can fulfil our every need,

As we seek to serve and bring glory to you every day,

Please continue to guide us through your life-giving Word,

And grant us understanding as we seek to live in obedience to it,

Teach us to treasure your commands in our hearts,

And to meditate on them constantly,

Teach us also to grow in fellowship with other believers,

And to find ways to encourage them to persevere in the faith,

And as we follow the path of righteousness each day alongside fellow brothers and sisters,

Teach us that your Spirit will always be with us,

Growing us in holiness more and more each day,

And strengthening us to do every good work.
