God Cares Even More

Life can hand us some very tough situations. What may be the hardest is seeing loved ones suffer. My mom is in her eighties and showing signs of dementia as well as exhibiting symptoms of possible mild seizures. Getting her to admit she has a problem and needs to seek medical attention is extremely difficult; She is understandably terrified of facing the loss of her mental capacities.Yet I worry one of her “episodes” will one day lead to a serious incident. I often wonder what the future holds for her.

In taking my fears to the Lord, I sensed him reminding me of Jesus’s words to his disciple John as Jesus hung on the cross in unimaginable agony. Jesus’s mother needed someone to care for her; Joseph was most likely dead. So even amidst the horrors of his crucifixion, Jesus gasped, “‘Dear woman, here is your son.’ And he said to this disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ And from then on this disciple took her into his home” (John 19:26-27 NLT).

I felt the Lord assuring me that he knows every detail of my mother’s situation and that if I care for her, how much more does he, the sovereign, eternal Father God of the universe, care for her. After all, he knows what it was like to be concerned for his own earthly loved ones; He is  able to meet my mother’s needs far better than I or my other family members can. He will provide, protect, and guide.

You may be facing a much different trial. But be assured, God watches closely and cares tenderly about you and your situation. What may seem too hard for us is not too hard for him.

PRAYER:  Father God, thank you that you see and are concerned about every detail of our troubles and that you are always there, working lovingly on our behalf. AMEN
