Love as defined by the famous Greek Philosophers is explained and divided into seven types of Love:

1.Eros – This is a romantic and passionate love between two beings who are deeply in love. Though physical in nature and culminating in mutual desires, it brings about that intimate closeness that increases the bonding of the souls.

2.Philia- This love is a platonic and affectionate love centered on friendship and is a main basis for Eros love to grow stronger into more intense feelings of loyalty, care, understanding and commitment.

3.Storge- This is a familial love, the love for parents, siblings, children and extended family which also hinges on forgiveness, concern, trust and dependability.

4.Agape- This is selfless and unconditional love, the love that God has for us, a love which is present and perseveres under any duress or circumstance. It is also our Love for God filled with a great faith and trust in Him. This is also a spiritual love and can be seen as an Universal love too, towards our fellow mates in society which prompts us to be compassionate and sharing with others. In Agape, we give of ourselves unreservedly, we overlook the faults and shortcomings of others. It is the purest and highest type of love.

5.Ludus- This is a playful and casual love. It can be fulfilling in the light of maturity and self sufficiency. This is mostly experienced in the early stages of courtship when new feelings and emotions develop though the playfulness does give a lighter and more attractive segment to it.

6.Pragma- This is a practical love which centres more on compatability, shared interests, responsibilities and working towards a common goal. This is the fruit of a long lasting and enduring relationship where both have worked hard through the years to maintain and allow their love to grow and blossom more.

7.Philautia- This is a self love which does not rest on vanity but is beneficial because it boosts the self esteem and confidence of a person that He is deeply loved by God and his loved ones. This love helps rise over fear, weakness or limitations of any sort. Once the person experiences love within himself, he can in turn reach out and share this love with others.

Certain Philosophers cite an eight type of Love known as Mania or Obsessive Love. A love which can be possessive, jealous and demanding, which cannot control its own feelings but is none the less a facet of love.

 If we scan the above List and ponder on how Love can be so comprehensive that it is impossible even if we go into details at length to precisely pinpoint the exact abstract form of Love.

But when we look at this One Book, from start to the finish, then all the other books in the world cannot come close to defining Love as this Main Book can. Of course, this Book is none other than the Holy Bible. Because if all the definitions of Love can be found in the One right place, it can be found here. After all, the Creator created Love and He put this love in our hearts. If we know and feel Love, it is because He fashioned us in His image to feel and know Love just as He does for us.

When we look at the Love of the Trinity, we see the Love of God the Father who loves us as His Precious Child and can refuse us nothing when we ask Him in all humility in a childlike manner. God the Son loves us over the point of Love where His Cross stands as a witness to a love as deep as the nails that pierced His hands and feet. God the Holy Spirit is truly our First spouse who dwells within each one of us and loves us as a Lover cares, guides and protects us always. The Virgin Mary is the most beautiful Model of the Love of the Trinity where she is the favoured daughter of God, the faithful Mother of Jesus and the spouse of the Holy Spirit. Truly a sacred vessel of the Holy Trinity! 

We who  form the Church who is seen as the Bride of Christ. And when we the Church have a Bridegroom who can walk on water, change water into wine, lay down His life for us to save us and keep an eternal reward reserved in heaven for us, what more do we need in life?

Just as the Trinity is three persons in One God, so also when two people are in love, they are two persons in one soul and spirit. They can only find happiness only when united with each other because their souls have found each other and loved to become one soul. It is like a long walk or journey down a beautiful road where each one dreads the end of the road or the stop of the journey where they have to part and go their own ways. But even when away from each other, they are still One with the other. Just as Jesus continued to remain One with the Father in Heaven after He came on this earth as Man, so also today the Holy Spirit which has descended on us still remains united with the Father and Son in Heaven.

It is an incomprehensible mystery but only Love can explain how this can be brought about. Only Love can exist on a strong pragmatic force, with an intensity more stronger than the strongest Atom that can overpower all the prevalent powers in the Universe because it is the very power of God itself who is the Creator of each and every dot in the Universe. This love can break through the mountains and rocks, flow through rivers and seas to reach its destination and accomplish what has to be done.
Sometimes Lovers call on the forces of the Universe to make them meet their soulmate. But it is only God who can literally lift one of them from one end of the earth and place them on the other side of the world to meet their soulmate.

Today on the feast of the Holy Trinity which is the most powerful depiction of Love between the Father Son and Spirit, let us too loudly proclaim; “Glory to the Trinity, the Undivided Unity, The Father, Son and Spirit One from whom all Life and Goodness flow.”

When we have sincerely found the One Whom our soul loves, we can identify our feelings with that of Solomon who delighted himself in the Lord and was granted the desires of His heart.
