Marriage
This should serve to alert Christian men and women to the fact that Jezebel's spirit is still alive and well in our world. Where do you think the satanic strength of the Black Lives Matter movement, the Pro-Murder Abortion movement, the #MeToo crowd, and many allegedly 'Christian' women (and men) are getting their fuel for evil?
That's right...from that sage Queen from the Old Testament that Elijah had to put in check. Jezebel.
Yes, we've seen some evil women in Scripture. Delilah. The witch of Endor. You get my point. But Jezebel has them beat by a country mile.
Recently, I had a discussion with another Minister friend of mine over how Jezebel's spirit seems to have manifested among the women of our current society. Manifested with a satanic vengence. When these women they seek power, they are fearless. When the get power, they are merciless. When they fall from power, they THEN 'turn on the waterworks' to get people to feel sorry for them, right before they are marched off to prison...or worse.
I put together this quick guide for him to share with brothers in the faith who were going to get married, and sisters in the faith who needed to be reminded that rebellion isn't funny to God.
*Jezebel’s father was named ‘Ethbaal’, a pagan king and one who was into satanic worship and the occult. Ethbaal was the king of the Zidonians, and a worshipper of Baal (a Satan-fueled deity). I Kings 16:31 KJV
*Ethbaal passed his love for Baal, and his skills in the occultic arts down to his daughter, Jezebel. Thus, Jezebel did not have the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of the groves at her royal table by accident. I Kings 18:19
Jezebel, while she was an Old Testament Queen, had a lot of powerful influence and imitators in the New Testament. Herod, the king who put John the Baptist to death did so as his wife, did not like the fact that John told Herod that it was wrong for him to marry the wife of Phillip, his brother. Salome received training from her mother to become skilled in the sexual arts, which eventually led to the death of John the Baptist.
*Remember: Jezebel is into power and wealth. She can ‘sense’ men who have that capability, even IF those men don’t see their own greatness! Either men who have that power outright, or, men who are on their way up and who ‘may’ get that power she craves.
*Remember: Jezebel, while she was a living, breathing person, had such a powerful spirit that her spirit is listed, by name, in the NT in the Book of the Revelation (Rev. 2:20).
Jezebel is into the following spirits (not exhaustive):
*Preference for Occult/Demonic Worship (likely OES, Greek Letter Org., etc.)
*Usurping of authority from men in positions in authority in the home or church or society (I Kings 21:7)
*Pride *Rebellion *Rejection of godly instruction
*Vanity (II Kings 9:30) *Lewd *Lascivious
*Murder (I Kings 18:13) *Witchcraft
*Hatred of God’s Leaders (I Kings 18:4)
*Extreme Anger/Rage
*Lust for Power *Covetous *Wicked *Liar
*Corrupter of God’s People and Leaders (I Kings 21:25)
*Hatred of God’s People (I Kings 21:11, 14, 15)
*Usually meets violent end by hands of Lord (II Kings 9:7, 10)
To deal with Jezebel’s disciples, one must do it head on, buy the guidance of the Lord:
I. IF IN the church, it takes confrontation in a biblical manner
1. One witness goes to her, confronts her and seeks repentance from her.
IF she does not repent after a season
2. Two witnesses go to her, confront her, and seek repentance from her.
IF she does not repent after a season
3. Matter is brought before the church for her excommunication.
II. IF IN church leadership (ie wife of a Pastor or Deacon)
Same as under I, but may also have to remove her husband (Ahab) too.
III. IF IN the home, a Jezebel wife and an Ahab husband--can be brutal!
1. BEFORE such a couple get married, pre-marital counseling!
2. IF becomes visible during marriage, pastoral counseling!
3. Better that divorce takes place if she will not repent, because this is better than a servant of God end up like Ahab did in the Old Testament (I Kings 21:25). Further, God is VERY specific about his servants placing their all on the altar for service to him (Matt. 19:27-29; Mark 10:28-30; Luke 18:28-30). SOME marriages can be saved through a legal separation, repentance by the wife, and reconciliation. However, divorce is better than a servant of God losing his ministry and mission for the kingdom.
IV. IF the spirit of Jezebel is visible or rises in a daughter:
1. Check her salvation A.S.A.P. Be merciless as a parent!
2. See if she will repent and give her opportunity to.
3. If she refuses, it may be for her to ‘root hog or die’.
4. Better to put an older child out of the home than to lose the home.
Jezebel had a daughter, who also became a queen. Her name is Athaliah She had all her mother’s traits--and a whole lot more!
*Jezebel usurped the power OF the throne, as Queen. Athaliah, as Queen, usurped and outright TOOK the throne when her son, the king died. II Kings 11:1 KJV.
*Athaliah then murdered every one of the royal sons that she could find in order to keep her title of Queen AND the power of the throne. II Kings 11:2. However, she missed one…little Joash, who was hidden in the House of the Lord.
*Athaliah ruled for six years (note six), while Joash was hidden. II Kings 11:3 KJV.
*When Joash was revealed to be the new King, Queen Athaliah rent her clothes and cried ‘Treason, Treason’ in the temple. Eventually, she was killed for her own Treason and died a violent death, just like her mother. II Kings 11:14, 20. More is said about Athaliah in II Chronicles, Chapters 23 and 24. She also had a few sons that caused problems for the people of God. II Chronicles 24:7; Ezra 8:7 KJV.
BOTTOM LINE: Those who are of the Jezebel spirit, if allowed unchecked, will grow more powerful and murderous to the people of God, and more loyal to Baal. Athaliah did more damage than her mother, and her sons (?) continued to be a plague on Israel and the people of God. The ONLY way that the Jezebel spirit can be checked, is it must be checked head on, and WITH the power of God (exampled by Elijah in I Kings 18). The neck of the beastie MUST be broken!
