Know What You Are Doing And Do What You Know
Know What You Are Doing: It is very important to be well informed of what we are doing, half knowledge or no knowledge may mislead and lead to wrong conclusions, thus a complete knowhow should be obtained of a particular task before it’s done. Our knowledge drives our conscience and thus the truth or false is based upon what we know.
In terms of our Christian faith, here’s how Paul encourages us…
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 NKJV
Let not our knowledge be conformed to that of this world, rather we need to learn from God and our minds have to be renewed so we may firmly believe in the Lord God and then and then only shall the good and acceptable will of God be revealed and fulfilled in our life.
Paul never reached the saturation point in his life when it was with regards to knowing God for this is what was his desire always…
“That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” Philippians 3:10 NKJV
There was always a quest within Paul to know the Lord more.
Paul endured great hardships in life, yet what is it that kept him from faltering from his faith?
“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.”
2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV
If we would really know our God, we cannot at any time be taken for a ride by the devil, yet if God be just a theoretical knowledge to us, the devil may present a different knowledge and easily deceive us.
Do what you know: Having known the goodness of the Lord and the right path to tread, we should all the more endeavor to walk in it.
The devil often tempts us through fear, lethargy and varied other means to dissuade from the truth and to keep ourselves away from being good.
Jesus said…
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV
If we are the light, we need to emit the brightness through our lives, we cannot be like the one who hid his talents and was irresponsible to God for His accountability.
We are to be a living Gospel of Jesus Christ for the world to see and follow.
This is what the Holy Spirit encourages us through James…
“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” James 2:17-18 NKJV
We may boast about being a believer, yet if our life does not portray or support that belief, then our faith is dead.
James yet again brings to us this blessed truth…
“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” James 4:17 NKJV
Having known God and His blessed ways, this is what Paul encourages us to do….
“This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:17-24 NKJV
We always have a blessed privilege to know Him more and more and having thus known Him, a great responsibility to endeavor to walk in Him as we know Him.
God Bless,
