(First believer enters singing heartily) “God’s not dead, He is alive, God’s not dead, He is alive…..this is such good news!
Second believer: Of course He’s not dead and that IS our good news and has been all along. Did something make you believe otherwise?
FB (First believer) The philosopher told me he was dead but, as philosophers often do, he exaggerated. God is not dead but sometimes He seems to be in a coma.
You’ve got to be kidding.
No, but here’s the good part, don’t miss this. We are in charge of his life support. (Checking monitors and turning dials as he talks) We won’t let Him die. We can be on the job around the clock, because there are believers like us in all time zones.
SB: That’s a scary thought. Are you sure that you don’t have that backwards?
FB: What do you mean?
SB: That we are the ones in a coma. We are in need of life support. Gods the One with the true monitors and dials. In fact, we have always been dependent on God’s life support, even when we’ve been at our best.
FB: But we wouldn’t be saying these things to each other if we were in a coma.
SB: It’s because we are having this conversation that I know we ARE in a coma, the very fact that there’s even a need for the conversation tells me we’re mostly unconscious.
FB: Mostly unconscious?
SB: The little sliver of consciousness that we do have from time to time, that’s our hope.
FB: Little by little then, from one sliver to the next. From a bigger sliver to the liver of an abundant life!
SB: We’re coming around to consciousness. Beware…….
