Our life is given to us by God and we have no control over how long or short it is.

David when talking about life and it’s longevity wrote these words under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit “The days of our yearsare threescore years and ten;= 70 and if by reason of strength they be fourscore.”=80 (PS. 90:10) He talked a lot about life in this chapter. God revealed something intresting to Job about His control of life in (Job 14:1-2)when He said these words to Job; “ Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.” The NIV states it this way; “ Mortals, born of woman,
    are of few days and full of trouble.
2 They spring up like flowers and wither away;
    like fleeting shadows, they do not endure.

The supremacy of God in this area is echoed throughout the Old and New Testament of Scripture . Just a few will be quoted here so that the fact is established.(Psa_139:13) “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.”

Job reached this conclusion as he communed with God in Ch. 14 of his great book. In vs.5 he said these words; “Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass.”

The prophet Isiah also saw this and stated these words in Isa. 44:2a)”Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb”

Rom_9:20 “ Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formedit, Why hast thou made me thus?”

I close with this quote. “ The foolishness of God is wiser than man”( 1 Cor.1:25) and” For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.” (1 Cor. 3:19)

God limits the amount of knowledge that He will allow man to acquire.

(Deut. 29:29) “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever,”

Note: Medical science has been given the miraculous ability to make our days that ordained by God more comfortable but can not extend or shorten them beyond the unseen control of Almighty God. Thank God for the Doctors. They are approved by Jesus. One of the Gospel writers was a Physician. It was Luke and he was a Gentile.

From the humorous side

A medical scientist got an audience with God and told him that he was not needed any longer because they could now make humans ,fix them and control their life span by extending or shortening it at will. Transplants and new inventions give them complete control. God said so I challenge you to do it as I did in the beginning from dirt. The scientist said ok and they went outside. The scientist stooped down to get a handful of dirt and God said hold it and the scientist asked what was wrong and God said “make your own dirt. End of challenge

GOD REMAINS SUPREME.
