Jelly Beans Joy

I still remember the excitement of finding my Easter baskets. I always saw colorful hard-boiled eggs in the artificial grass. Mom had hidden a variety of candies in the baskets, too. Big chocolate crosses and bunnies were my favorites; marshmallow peeps were ranked way down my list. What Easter basket is complete without jelly beans?

The prettiest were purple. Ronald Reagan favored the licorice flavor.

While President Reagan is remembered for far more important accomplishments, I like remembering that he wanted others to know the joy of jelly beans. He gave away gift boxed jars of jelly beans to acquaintances, dignitaries and White House guests.

Let’s share the joy of Easter!

Jesus said to her, ‘Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.’ Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, ‘I have seen the Lord,’ and that He had said these things to her (John 20:13b-18 NASB).”
