16 This is what the Lord says, He who makes a way through the sea
And a path through the mighty waters, 17 He who brings out the chariot and the horse, The army and the mighty warrior, (They will lie down together, they will not rise again; They have been extinguished, they have been put out like a lamp’s wick): 18 “Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past. 19 “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:16-19, Amplified Bible).

In the verses above, Isaiah tells of Judah’s future comfort and the salvation of God. Reference is given to God’s work of parting the Red Sea and causing Pharaoh’s army to be swallowed up in the mighty waters. God speaks through Isaiah and tells His people to listen carefully because He is about to do a new thing. He will put a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Maybe you have heard this response or question. “Won’t He do it?’ I will often give this response when I hear someone share a testimony of God’s goodness and deliverance. It reaffirms and reminds us that there is nothing too hard for our God. Truly, He is a Way Maker. Every time He makes a way I am inclined to respond by asking “Won’t He do it?”

Remember, we serve a God “Who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20 KJV). There is nothing too hard or too difficult for our Way Maker. You need not think that He will make a way for others but not for you. He has no favorites. He delights in doing good and great things for His children. Why? So that we may tell others of His goodness, His grace, and His mercy. However, we should not serve Him only to see how he will deliver us out of difficult situations. We should serve Him because He is worthy.

It doesn’t take God any additional effort to move the “big mountains” in our lives than it does to handle the small matters. He is Omnipotent (all powerful) and chooses when and where to demonstrate His power even though He does it without physical force. Our God is a spiritual Way Maker. He delivers out of trouble into places of safety. He opens doors no one else can open (or close). He spoke this world into existence and without Him nothing exists.

Here’s a pleasant reminder. When things seem out of whack and in deep turmoil remember we serve a God Who makes things happen. Not only does he know what we are going through and how we feel as we go through, but He also will take control of the situation if we allow Him to do so. All He asks of us is to allow Him to be the Way Maker Who keeps making a way.
