Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 1 Corinthians 8:9-12 NIV
Certainly, we are aware that some are weak in terms of self-control. We as Christians must be careful in exercising rights we have, that we do not cause fellow believers who are weak to stumble. This presupposes a thought that some around us might be weakened by us taking certain action. If such action is taken, it should not be done in the presence of such weakened believers. We so have a responsibility to Christ to not be a stumbling block to fellow believers. We are to encourage and uplift our brothers and sisters who are members of the body of Christ. This is a responsibility that we must not take lightly. Do we wish to be the cause of one stumbling in a weakened faith? Do we wish this to be held against us? No longer can we do this after having been told not to do so. Do not just exercise a right you have. Consider the implications of doing so, particularly if it is detrimental to a fellow believer.

Your message is quite meaningful. I have often pondered if I would eat meat in front of a vegetarian just because God said it is okay to eat it. My conclusion is that I would not eat it in front of them, but mosey into a MacDonald's after they were gone, so that I would not seem cruel to God's critters whom vegetarians hold in high regard. Which I do too, so I have a love/hate relationship with eating animals.
Oh! And thanks for all the kind comments you have left on my messages as of late. They encourage me that God and I working together to knit together a message has helped me a lot! Yes, God has given people like you and me a great and godly talent to write, but it is still God's Spirit inspiring us as we do so. So, let us never forget that we work with God, not for God.
