A
SIMPLE GUIDE
FOR TEACHING THE BIBLE
By Henry Jaegers
INTRODUCTION
My original goal for putting together this book was to train others who did not have the benefit of a formal Bible school training to begin a venture in teaching the Bible to others. My goal was to put together a simple presentation of all the books of the Bible in the short form and provide questions for discussion that could be used in guiding them in their spiritual growth.
In the book of Hebrews, the writer expressed the idea that he desired that they should grow in their faith to the point where they could teach others as well. In
II Timothy 2:2 we have these words, "and the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses the same commit thou to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also."
As I understand the meaning of this verse, if every Christian was properly trained to do this, it would not be long until we saw an explosion of many teachers evolving from our efforts. Imagine being a teacher of potential teachers who would go forth and begin Bible studies with their friends, fill in where needed when teachers of other classes were sick or could not get to class. The teacher would be properly prepared for any situation and with the development of these lessons, they would need very little time to prepare as it would be as simple as reading the brief overview and present the questions for
discussion.
It is with these goals in mind, I have decided to follow through and present to my groups one lesson a week for the next 66 weeks. Imagine being able to teach the whole Bible in just a short period of time and think as for how you yourself would grow as you began to understand the message you are teaching to others. May God cause us to experience great blessing as we venture forth as a teacher of Teachers.
HOW TO CONDUCT THIS GROUP?
- Share prayer requests (For others to take home (8-10 Minutes)
- Present overview (10 minutes)
3. Begin discussion or answer questions. (40-45 minutes)
This is a suggested not a rigid format. Times may vary. If you get finished too early, progress to the next lesson and continue the next week.
Do not worry about trying to get everything done in one lesson. Just continue the lesson the next week and summarize where you left off. We want this to be an enjoyable experience in a relaxed atmosphere.
If you can copy the questions before the next session to give to your class, this might stimulate more discussion.
