Remembering the Good When Someone Does Wrong

It never ceases to amaze me how a person whose good and kind is judged harshly for that one bad act. You could have changed history by an act of heroism. It is possible you made selfless sacrifices that required tremendous time from your family. You’re always giving and going beyond what is required while expecting no applause. And then it happens, you fall short and mess up. Now, many see you as a failure. People you’ve known for years now call you horrible names. They tweet and post lies on social media and treat you as you don’t exist. You feel isolated, embarrassed, and hurt though you apologized and taken responsibility.

Beloved, this world can be good, and at times callous and cold. But let us not forget if not for the grace of God; it could be us. And it has been us because no one is free of sin. We all have come short of God’s glory.

“The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:22-23, ESV).

Therefore, when someone you know does something, you deem unforgivable, remember, you likewise have faults. You have committed some act that you hope no one discovers. So, when someone does something wrong, before judging, remember all the good they have done and how it benefits society. Continue to treat them with respect and dignity. Continue to show God’s overwhelming love. It is possible by your act of mercy others will follow your example. We all need God’s grace.

Vernita, author/speaker devotionals reveal Jesus by spreading love, hope, and faith spans across the globe on several platforms.

This is such a good reminder that we need to be slow to judge and quick to show mercy.
