(Two constant companions are about to venture out on one of their daily excursions.)

P - I want to stop by and pick up someone new today.

L - What?  But we've always done this just the two of us.

P - I know, but I've been observing this person for a long time now and I think, that is,  I know she has earned this.

L - Maybe, but I haven't been observing anyone, shouldn't I have a say in all this, shouldn't I have a chance to observe?

P - Of course, and that's exactly what you will be doing on this outing today, observing for yourself.

(The pair stop and knock on a door, and, after answering the knock, out comes the third party as if having expected the visitors and P introduces L to J.)

(As they go off together and an initial silence....)

L - So tell me about yourself J, how did you meet my friend P?

Next scene:  Excursion completed they are returning to J's door in the evening time.

L - Good bye for now, J, it was such a pleasure meeting you....and I MEAN that.

J - It's mutual, L, the privilege is mine I assure you.

P - (After a brief silence walking along) Well, L., What do you think?

L - I'm speechless, P, so impressed as to be speechless.

P - Now that IS unusual. (chuckling)

L - Did you notice that when the bus driver was so rude too us that J just kept smiling at him?

Yes, and how quickly the volume and tone of his voice dropped and changed after that.  His anger seemed to be defused.  There's something calming about P's presence, you know that's just the kind of thing I've been noticing about her.

L - You didn't tell me though.

P - Well, I wanted to be sure.  Then you don't mind if J accompanies us tomorrow?

L - Mind?  Are you kidding me?  I INSIST!  What I want to know is......

P - Yes?

L - Where has she been all our lives, where has she been all of this time!?

(On the overhead is projected the following) :

P is Patience

L is Longsuffering

but

J is JOY!!

"...strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all PATIENCE and LONGSUFFERING with JOY;.. Colossians 1, v.11
