It’s too hard to live
When I cannot forgive,
But when I dare
To take my tears to Jesus in prayer,
He heals the hurt then and there…
For Jesus knows about sorrow
And having His feelings hurt;
Well-acquainted with grief, He was,
And He heals me with just one Word…
No, forgiveness isn’t a process.
It’s a command that Christ has given:
That if I will not forgive others,
Then why should I be forgiven?
But their wounding words
Or their stinging slaps
Don’t slide by the ONE who knows.
No, God won’t let them off the hook
When I dare to let it go…
It doesn’t mean I have to stick around for more
God will deal with them in His own sweet time;
They’ll think they’ve gotten away scot free
But they’ll drink the wrath of God’s wine…
Yes, I’ve been the brunt of many blows
And people have laughed at me
They’ve literally hit me with sticks and stones
And made my heart heave so heavily…
But when I’ve dared to tell the LORD in prayer
He has healed all my sorrows;
Yes, like a storm my pain has passed--
Replaced by a peaceful tomorrow.
For resentment is a prison cell
And in unforgiveness I’m an inmate in it;
But when I dare to take it to the LORD in prayer
He frees me in a New York minute!
Sometimes I cry and sometimes I sigh
When I tell the LORD of my pain,
But when I forgive, God helps me to live
And once again I am a guy who is sane…
