What to Do, During A Holding Pattern

A HOLDING PATTERN OF LIFE is a season of life in which a person is forced to interrupt his very busy schedule and do nothing.  It is a season of learning where he is not “ A Happy Camper”.  Nevertheless he is forced toreflect and evaluate his life and if he knows Jesus his relationship with his Creator.  Many people receive Jesus during this season.
            Life is fraught with uncertainties and disappointments such as the Loss of SOMETHING or SOMEONE.  Here are two persons who loss something and still ended  up praising God.  These are the conclusions of Job and Habakkuk during their holding patterns. 
 
Job 1:21-22  (KJV)  21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. 22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Hab.  3:17-19 (KJV) 17 Although

1. the fig tree shall not blossom,


2. neither shall fruit be in the vines;


3. the labour of the olive shall fail, and


4. the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold,


5. and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. 

A HOLDING PATTERN OF LIFE

      A holding pattern in life may be as serious as chronic or terminal sickness or minor as change in job.   You have two choices in life you can murmur, complain or argue in your head, get angry take it out on the cat or dog, or worse yet take it out on your family Or you can give thanks and ask God what is happening.  Although people do not like to think about it God does discipline us(chastens)  He sends reproofs of life our way.  

     Sometimes in life we are asked to circle(wait) at the airport of life until we get the clearance in the control tower from our Savior before we can land and proceed with our life.  What do we do while we are circling in a holding pattern is important. 
BE STILL, and know that i am God: i will be exalted among the heathen, i will be exalted in the earth. PSALM 46:10 KJV

    28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.  29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.  30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:  31 But they that Wait Upon The Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31(KJV

Be Active While You Are Waiting And Sitting In Darkness Or Confusion  

1.  Remember life "comes in seasons”.  It does not last forever IE "it came to pass "Ecc. 3:1-8 


2. Ask for wisdom- be open to a change in your plans.  James 1:5-6


3. Identify the two sources of wisdom.  James 3:14-17


4. Listen more than you talk If you mouth is itchy don't scratch it.   James 1:19


5. Talk to God about everything with thanksgiving   Peace amidst chaos is what your heart and mind needs. Phil 4:6-7


6. Acknowledge Him in all things you are facing (ways) even the things you have figured out(be not wise in your own conceits and  opinions.)  To do this you need to  give up your plans and agendas Pro 3:5-7


7. Let the Holy Spirit pray for you.  He does a better job and is not biased or opinionated.  He has the inside scoop on what is going on. Rom 8:26-27


8. Don't talk too much to others while you are hurting( you can start a fire no one can control). What you say, when you say, How you say controls your mind and your emotions. If you insist on chattering you can stir yourself and those around you into a ball of fire,  "Go to the throne not the phone".  J Meyers.  James 3:5-11 


9. Remember that God is interested in you becoming more like his Son. Hebrew 12:5-17,


10. Increase your faith by reading the word during this time of darkness. There is comfort in  Scripture Romans 10:17,  Romans 15:4 


11.   11 Allow the Word to discern the thoughts and intents of your heart. Hebrews 4:12


12.  Keep busy overcoming evil with good, look for good things you can do while you are hurting. Do this by faith. Rom 12:9-29


13.  Don’t Fear Psalm 91:1-16


14. Short phrases to Do and Not to Do that are very easy to remember Psa 37:1-17


15. Cast your burden on the Lord . Matt. 11:28-30,  1 Pet. 5:6-7


16. Perhaps you are going through a trial 1 Peter 4:12-16


17. Persecution, trials, temptations, afflictions will come  because of the Word. Matt. 13:20-21, Mark 4:16, Luke 8:13


18. Let God promote  you
