My Testimony of Meeting Jesus Christ

This is a testimony where I met the Risen Living Jesus back in 2005. For those who perhaps doubt that Jesus is alive, I say truly Jesus is alive, He is risen for my eyes have witnessed, touched and beheld His Glory.

I had a major breakdown in 2002. After years of childhood abuse which then escalated into domestic violence, mental and emotional cruelty I collapsed under the strain.  I also injured my back whilst at work and being a single parent, struggling to make ends meet, everything literally fell apart.

After my breakdown, I continued to suffer from very deep depression which lasted for over ten years.  During this time I lived in a flat with my daughter, she was a teenager.  I had been separate from her for almost two years whilst in hospital and a halfway house for out patients.  I was so ill I was in and out of hospital several times due to overdoses.

The flat I lived in with my daughter overlooked the most beautiful bay in St. Ives Cornwall but was also filled with lots of drug addicts and parties that went on all through the night. On top of all the neighbour problems, the building was in great disrepair, everything was falling down. The plus side was that it was cheap so my daughter and I sold everything we had to raise the deposit.

We were short of £300 so my daughter’s friend then aged fifteen, who worked in an Ice Cream Parlour in Wales all summer lent us the money. Later the following year this friend came back to Cornwall so we put her up and then I managed to pay her back.

The stress of my living accommodation together with my deep depression made everything very dark indeed. I could not see any light at all in my life at all.

My faith at this time darted from New Age to Christianity. My crippling loneliness with the stigma of mental health issues caused me to make very bad choice in friendships.  The church had already written me off and rejected me as crazy. It was my daughter’s teenage friends, unbelievers, who took a normal view of me, they brought smiles, chocolate and cakes to please me. God was in all of this but my hope was waning very thin.

One day I went into my local town and for some unknown reason my spirits had  lifted, I couldn’t understand it, I was feeling a lot of joy. I saw the words ‘New Home; New Home’ everywhere but in my own understanding I took this to mean that a new physical home was on the horizon.  But God had other ideas and more revelation was to be made later on that day.

My new puppy dog, Cindy, a name the LORD gave me was now just over a year old. The season was Summer and it was very hot.  I hate heat of any kind but I had to take Cindy for a walk so I decided to head for the shady part where there was lots of trees.

Heading towards our usual path leading to the beach, my plan was to climb the steep hill and then veer off to the cliff tops. Despite a section of it being the steepest climb in St. Ives I knew I could go on another pathway which was flatter.  I walked slow because my back was still very painful and the medications I was taking had increased my weight too.

As I headed towards the local mini-golf course, nearing the beach and pathway I intended to take Cindy, there stood a man as it were waiting for me. I continued to walk and he stepped in beside me and started walking with me. I wasn’t expecting this and since I was afraid of men, due to my abuse, I was briefly perturbed but it dissipated very quickly and I found all fear seem to go. I made the usual polite conversation thinking perhaps he was just a tourist on a visit. I think I did all the talking and asking questions because this is what I do when I’m nervous.  This stranger continued to walk with me on the coastal path, and the next section was the steepest part.

As I continued to walk and lightly chat, I saw the pathway on the left which I had planned to take to go to the cliff tops and then hoping for relief from the pain in my back.  I didn’t tell this stranger what I was planning, it was all in my head but just at the point of leaving all the pain in my back completely went away.

I was taken by complete surprise and felt to continue up this very steep path even walking with this stranger who seemed quite at home walking with me.  All the pain from my back had disappeared.

Then for some unknown reason I opened up about my housing situation which by this time was really bad.  I also opened up about my abuse and shared with him something so personal.  I did not have any friends at this time apart from a woman at church who would laugh at me trying to work out what had happened to me.

Everything I asked or spoke about to this stranger, he could read my thoughts and know what was in my heart.  He spoke of places connected to my earthly father which no one around me knew..

Then towards the end of this section of the coastal path, by which time we had passed all the tall green trees I shared something I had a great deal of confusion and shame about because my friend laughed at me.  He then suddenly turned to me, touched my forehead and smiled at me. I had never had anyone smile like that to me.  It was so beautiful!  Full of joy and light!  I was left speechless also because of His words to me.

We then continued only for a brief time, still being stunned at this encounter, not sure what to make of it.  My heart was in my mouth, I was speechless but filled with such joy but couldn’t understand it. Then by these steps which led to another group of houses He told me he had to leave.  I was so sad, so sad and I didn’t know why.  I wanted Him to stay for some strange reason, I didn’t want Him to go.

He went up these steps and I continued to walk to the end of this section of the coastal path.  Unable to comprehend and amazed I said to God, ‘Who was that man?’ The reply that came straight away shocked me.  He said ‘It was Me’. And at that precise second I knew it was Jesus that I had been walking.

Still in shock at this revelation I went to the end of the path and I just didn’t know what to do.  I could have taken two other paths but in the end I turned around and started to walk back home. Then as I turned around and walked by the steps Jesus had taken to leave He came down again to bid me a final farewell and to wish me good luck with my new home. He gave me this wonderful smile again and He disappeared. By now I couldn’t believe it but I knew it was true.  On the outside He looked like just any ordinary conservative man, He also wore a navy blue baseball cap I remember so I couldn’t always see fully His face except when He turned to me face to face and in such close proximity.

I walked home in shock, stunned.  The blinding light left by Presence made it so I couldn’t sleep or concentrate on anything but this meeting all through the night and the for the next following seven days. More revelation opened up on this meeting over the years and the significance of what He said, but most of all what I remember is the love and kindness shown to me a broken woman, scorned, rejected and cast off.

A year later the LORD Jesus Christ confirmed that it had indeed been Him. As I listened to this preacher he spoke out of the Holy Bible with these words:

Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father – John 14:9

This cemented in my mind and heart that I had walked and conversed with Jesus Christ in the flesh, not only that He also healed my back. Since He touched my forehead my depression, my deep depression lifted. Everything He spoke to me connected with things and people ONLY I knew.  This was also the beginning of my healing to do with my earthly father and the core of my fear of men.  Now I can call my Father in heaven daddy God and trust both Father and Son.

The New Home I realised pertained to my Heavenly Home prepared for me and I was not to worry about my temporary homes here on earth.  I moved several times after this encounter and that is on top of all the other times throughout my life.

I know without a doubt that Jesus is truly alive today! He is the Same Yesterday today and Forever.

It did change my life, even though I still face many obstacles with my mental health.  Jesus continues to help me walk up this steep hill to heaven, this too He has shown me and what a steep and narrow climb it is but also that Jesus is there all the way with me.   For Jesus says and promises ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’.

Jesus listened so intently to all I had to say, but not only that He knew all about me and what had happened anyway because He made me from the beginning of the foundation of this earth.  Praise be to His glorious Name!

This testimony really helped me. I am recommitting myself to God. I've been angry at him when bad things happen for seemingly no reason. But when I see how much you must have suffered for ten long years or more, and then Jesus came to you, I realize I've been impatient. Life ISN'T always easy but we have to hang in there and always strive to do God's will.

Lovely article, thank you. This sounds a lot like the One who has Himself my God, intensely personal and incredibly loving!
