Intervention and the Lack of It

Early on in our relationships with God through Jesus Christ our faith is often built up by the near immediate and often dramatic intervention of God as we cry out in our need. Later as we grow a little more our faith is often built up by the seeming delays in that intervention (see John 11, vs. 14-15 in regard to Jesus and the family of Lazarus). But as we mature even more in our intimacy with God our faith may well be built by the withholding of the intervention altogether (as in My God, "My God why have You forsaken me" recorded in Psalm 22 many hundreds of years before Christ ever did it the honor of quoting it on the cross!). We can trust that God knows just how best to nurture our faith at any given time of our lives and in any given situation or circumstance of our lives.
