Redemption of a LAPD Rogue Cop Book Review by Mike Ramey

The line of Christian books from author Rayford L. Johnson continues to grow in their spiritual power. His latest work: “Redemption of a LAPD Rogue Cop” (2017, 65 pages, Thug Exposed Publishing) is the next step up the path in sharing what Jesus Christ has done in the lives of those who have been plying their trade in darkness, often working for the forces of evil in a large way.
Ruben Palomares is the feature of this work. Growing up in the gang-infested streets of East Los Angeles, Palomares--at first--seemed to be heading in the right direction. Boxing champion. Police officer. Role model. However, he had several battles in his childhood that came back to haunt him, later down the road. Couple this with a bad incident that took place during his years as a police officer, and Palomares went from working for the good guys, to working for the bad guys in the form of the Mexican Drug Cartels and some other rogue cops within the Los Angeles police department. It was all about the money, or so Palomares thought.
Palomares, for his deeds and crimes, eventually wound up sentenced to some 16 years in federal prison. He found that Satan--the real force behind drug and gang activity--followed him into prison, and was going to do his best to see that Palomares didn’t make it out. It was in this environment that he discovered the power of God was more powerful than the power of Satan. Palomares accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, dropped his ‘flag’ and left the drug gang life. He took a stand for Christ while in prison, to work to bring other inmates to a saving knowledge of Christ.
Upon his release, Palomares still continues his anti-gang and deliverance work, helping to set the captives of revenge, demonic possession, and drug gang activity free in Christ.
This work comes with two pages of photos, as well as some up-close and gritty observations of gang life. Johnson is the writer used to share Palomares’ story, and it is a story worth reading.
