Proverbs 24(NKJV)
1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischef.
8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
Genesis 6:5
Jeremiah 7:24; 17:9-10, 23
Psalm 14: 1-3
Ecclesiastes 7:20
Mark 7:20-23
The verse in Proverbs 24 verses 1 and 2; enjoins the faithful follower of Christ to continually focus on the author and finisher of our faith because we live in a fallen world that is soon to be judged. A world full of players performing their roles with vigour and ‘vitality’, the villain and the victim (turns out as God’s HERO) are side-by-side (Matthew 13:24-30) playing out their hardest for SURVIVAL in this world.
The temptation comes continually to ‘join them if you can’t beat them’, as we behold in a world with the hearts of men ruled by the ‘prince’ of this world; they willingly submit their hearts and souls in exchange for power and the wealth of this world that moth and rust will soon fade away. This advice is necessary to help ALL faithful remember that what these ones have often is not from clean roots (Proverbs 22:16) and they continue in depravation and degradation of soul and morality to maintain that which is important to them.
They scheme and con just to remain in charge but, the study of the Bible helps us to READ the times and the seasons and the HAND-OF-GOD in all activities of man and the world stage and how the roles are being played out to reach the final curtain call before the great throne of judgment.
Jeremiah 17:23 says that, they refused to listen but hardened their hearts in order not to listen or take correction
17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. – Ephesians 4
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. -Romans 1
