The consequence from the fall of the woman's pain in childbearing actually turned out for the salvation of humanity.  Mary certainly experienced physical pain in the birth of Jesus Christ, but he turned out to be her Savior and the Savior of many others, and will so turn out to be that for many more in the future.  She also experienced the emotional pain of seeing her son Jesus suffer the horror of a Roman crucifixion, and all the abuse heaped upon him leading up to that crucifixion.  That cross of Christ's suffering was also a birth with all the accompanying pangs of birth, only that birth was the birth of the church.

Adam's consequence was having to earn his living by toil and the sweat of his brow.  Jesus experienced that sweat and toil in learning the trade of his father Joseph, as his obedience was beginning to be made perfect by the things he suffered even at that early stage, yet without sin.  He was found flawless and without blemish so he could be that perfect sacrificial lamb that our sin required.

We may think the stain of our sin is too deep and too serious and the wicked webs we've woven too tangled, but Jesus thinks differently.  The stain IS deep and serious, and the webs ARE indeed tangled, but never so deep or serious or tangled that blood of Christ can't remove it and The Spirit of Christ can't undo it and make it right.  Hallelujah!!
