In the Throne Room (Revelation 4) the living creatures say: Holy, holy, holy…
A friend of mine shared a revelation from a book she read. It revealed why the living creatures, with the many eyes, say, “Holy, Holy, Holy!” It is because with every new angle they see of God, they are overwhelmed by that attribute.
That reminds me of a time when I took a strategic prayer trip with a team to Detroit. I never go on these trips without God telling me to go. The warfare is too tangible to be taking these trips lightly.
As soon as we got about a mile away from our destination, I got hit by mass confusion. Talk about shock and awe. My head was spinning and I couldn’t think straight. I actually couldn’t think at all.
When we got to the ministry center, I just walked around like a zombie while others helped package food for the food shelf ministry.
One team member was on the floor with a backache.
I couldn’t even think to pray and so I went into the room which was called the House of Prayer. No one was there. I may have picked up a flag or not. It didn’t matter.
The room was once a school auditorium with a stage. I paced through the rows of seats for possibly a half an hour. The chaos was not leaving and I had no idea what to do about it.
As soon as I stepped on the stage, which was considered an altar, the exact opposite happened in my mind. Such clarity, purity, and joy streamed into my brain. It just came out of my mouth to say: Holy, Holy, Holy! for possibly two hours. I wasn’t seeing anything. I was simply feeling Heaven.
I am not so sure many have an understanding of what the word ‘holy’ means. For many, it may feel religious with a deep sense of kill-joy. It may seem to mean the changing of behavior through an act of will.
I think it means absolute, complete, and perfect wholeness. This is not something we experience on Earth all that often. Though God says, “Be holy as I am holy.” That sounds good to me. How can I be Holy? Only in connection with Him.
Before I was born-again, I had a dream. I was in a room with just a painting on an easel. It was black and white with slashes. There were strips of red. It reminded me somewhat of Picasso’s Guernica. It was ugly as Hell.
At the time, I had taken plenty of Art History classes and was learning how to discern various famous artist’s styles. I didn’t recognize this artist and so I zoomed in on the signature. Down at the lower right corner was the name Satan.
As soon as I saw that name, my head started to spin like a severe case of vertigo. Blaring sirens went off puncturing my ear drums. The black parts of the painting turned white and the white parts turned black. That effect kept changing and flashing like a strobe light. It shattered my eye’s ability to see. I cried, “God!”
In the room next door I sensed Someone move. He walked to that room’s door and opened it and then closed it as He walked out. I heard that door close. Then I could hear His footsteps thud as they were coming my way down the hall. Then He opened the door to the room I was in. All He did was grab Satan from the painting and put him in a playpen.
Then, He walked out of the room and closed the door. He walked back down the hall to the other room. He opened that door and closed it. He sat down near the wall where I was standing. I could feel Him from the other room.
I looked and there was Satan growling at me from that crib. It made me realized that God and Satan were not equals. God was like a parent and Satan was like a child – and one that needed a crib.
I stood by the wall wondering why God left and why was He in the other room.
Perhaps the painting on the easel represented Christ on the cross. Maybe, when I wondered why God was in the other room - that was when Jesus (or any human being) said “Why have you forsaken me?”
Maybe that experience in Detroit represented two kingdoms. One of hell and One of Heaven. Somewhere in between the two is Earth.
In my life, I had never experienced such insanity. And in my life, I had never experienced such wholeness.
All I can think about now is: Holy, Holy, Holy!
