I walked one day by the country roads,
There I found what I surely supposed
A tune or two singing as I walked along.
My heart filled with my favorite old song,
A step taken here and a step over there,
Jumping over ditches without any dare.
A small ground varmint padding along
Just walking there without a big song.
A big hill of dirt filled with little stings
Just waiting to bite giving many dings.
A lonely little canine begging a bite
Hoping one would give a big delight.
A few little birds singing out to the sky,
Singing to those in the sweet by and by.
A little crawler climbing up a tree so high
I could never reach even if I were to try.
A flower bed full of blooming colors wild,
Some being picked by a smiling child,
A nice colored rainbow up in the sky,
Showing the promise of a day gone by.
A few little clouds so high up in the air
Not a raindrop anywhere for me to share.
A nice gentleman came walking by my side,
For awhile keeping in step, stride by stride
What a walk I happened to have that day,
Seeing all His creation along the way.
All my cares just vanished without a care
Knowing that He would always be there.
I'm ready now to start life's journey anew,
Looking around thinking, Lord, of You.
In my youth, oftentimes I would take long country walks, kicking cans down the road as walked, sometimes stopping to pick up a rock or two. Occasionally, I would stop to behold the many facets of nature.
Oh, for those good old days of my youth. Life was much simpler then; no high tech devices, with batteries on the blink; no fast-moving vehicles on crowded roadways; no speech auditing in public; no progressive chaos; no naughtiness, no suspect media ads, and so-on.
Just enjoying such childhood games as hide-and-seek, climbing trees, catching lightning bugs, riding my bike to town, seeking those popular comic books, playing marbles in the dirt, waiting outside to be called in for supper, buying real penny candy, drinking real chocolate milk from a glass bottle, waiting for the morning TV test pattern to go off the screen, watching the nightly TV sign off with the flag waving "National Anthem", sloshing through mud puddles, saying "thank you" and "please" and don't forget getting all spruced up for Sunday School.
Yes, times have surely changed in my lifetime. Some would argue for the better, while others would converse for the worse. No matter your personal philosophy, values may change, viewpoints may vary, but the true way of life will never change, for that way is Scripturally explained in the word of our Creator.
Just take advantage of today's modern high tech internet and search it all out. Or take the easy route and simply open your Bible.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," (II Timothy 3:16)
