The Difference Between the Have’s, and the Have-Nots.

In sharing the gospel with others, we must not forget that having the gift of eternal life is not the end product that God has in mind. What I mean by that, is sometimes we think to ourselves that the most important part of eternal life is having the assurance of going to heaven and while that is partially true, it is not the whole truth. In John chapter 10, verses nine in 10, Jesus said, “the thief cometh not but to steal, kill and destroy (Satan), but I come that they may have life and to have it more abundantly.” One of the significant changes in our life after we become Christians is that the desire to serve others and be a blessing to them outweighs the desire to have things for ourselves. We tend to think that those who have this world's goods and live selfishly are truly rich. But Jesus said to the church of Laodicea, who thought they were rich and had need of nothing,  to buy eye salve from him that they might see how utterly impoverished they were in His eyes. I have found it to be so, and maybe it takes many years of living the Christian life to discover the blessings that are at hand to faithful Christian. It didn't take Peter and John long to discover this that day as they went up to the temple at the hour of prayer and approached the beggar at the temple gate. I never thought about it but they were offering to the beggar out of their poverty, the greatest riches that he could ever have imagined. “Silver and gold, have I none. but such as I have I give to them, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk”; and that day, he did not walk, he leaped for joy. And this is what happens when men are exposed to the blessings of the gospel. Have you through your growth in Christ discovered this great blessing that is available to those who have not. Peter and John declared that they had nothing but what they had in their possession, the power of God the changed a beggar, was this abundant and eternal life.
