Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.” His disciples answered, “Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?” “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied, “and a few small fish.” Matthew 15:32-34 NIV
Might we not be tempted here to snicker at the disciples, wondering how it is that they could not remember that Jesus had recently fed 5000 with five loaves and two fish? Why could they not remember that fact?
Has Jesus provide for you in many ways? Do you have any doubt that He will not always provide? If you answered in the affirmative to both these questions, guess what? Welcome to the disciple’s short memory club. What is it that puts doubt into our minds? I’m sure it is partially the evil one speaking to us, telling us we don’t deserve blessings from the Lord, and other lies that he will tell us. Our faith in Christ must grow stronger and it must be tested. Yes, we are human, and will at times forget and doubt, but, the Lord waits, always ready to provide for us.
Let your faith in Christ grow. Believe in and depend upon Him. He will provide for you!
