And the word became flesh and dwelt among us we are told at the beginning of the gospel of John.
We call this the incarnation.  There was only one incarnation where God became a human being, Jesus Christ, but there are many smaller incarnations in our lives where and when we actually embody the Word we have heard,  and even proclaim it ourselves, in our actions and attitudes and in our everyday conduct.  In this sense the word of God that we receive and transmit demands a manifestation or an embodiment in our lives.  And when that happens in both big and little ways we experience a feeling of fulfillment in our lives, fulfillment that God always meant for us to experience.  We were designed to enjoy that sense of fulfillment and contentment on a daily basis.
   One thing that undermines and militates against this contentment though is what I call the excretory nature of the fallen mind.  As the physical body has an excretory system so does the natural fallen mind.  If that mind is not regularly renewed by exposure to and contemplation on the word of God, flushed out just like physical waste, the mental waste in our thought life will tend to prevent the embodiment of God's word in practical ways in our daily lives.  We then become one of those changed by the world, instead of one of those world-changers. (Romans 12, v.2)  As so expressed in a manner easily remembered, our natural minds must be frequently flushed out in order for our word-nurtured spiritual minds to be expressed or fleshed out in the world around us.  Flush out in order to flesh out becomes the mantra.
   Many problems in our spiritual lives arise from absorbing layer upon layer of the Word of God without finding or allowing practical expression of it in our everyday lives.  We can become like the Dead Sea in Israel that takes in and takes in without any outlet.  It is better of course to be like the Sea of Galilee that gives out in healthy channels proportionate to what it has absorbed.  It was at the Sea of Galilee after all where so many of the disciples met Jesus!
