Who has believed what we have heard,
The arm of the Lord been revealed;
As indicated in the Word,
From the truth that has been unsealed.

He grew up just like a young plant,
Like a root out of the dry ground;
No real impressive form to chant,
Or majestic royalty found.

He was despised and rejected,
A man acquainted with sorrow;
Suffering and grief reflected,
But having hope for tomorrow.

He was like people would avoid,
Being despised and not valued;
Because some people were annoyed,
From the type of His attitude.

For He had borne our sickness,
Carried our sorrow and pain;
Yet stricken esteem in quickness,
Since our sin has left a stain.

He had been pierced for our sin,
Crushed for our iniquities;
Punished for our rot within,
Curing our infirmities.

We are all like sheep gone astray,
He was punished for our fall;
Since we have gone our own way,
While ignoring of His call.

He was oppressed and afflicted,
Although was keeping His mouth shut;
On the cross He was convicted,
While being pierced in His gut.

Like a lamb led to the slaughter,
Silence from before the shearer;
When pierced flowing blood and water,
Made the death look even clearer.

Because of oppression being judged,
Humans that considered His fate;
Those that were threatened had begrudged,
Since the danger they felt was great.

He received the mighty spoils,
And submitted Himself to death;
Bearing the sin many toils,
Interceded through the last breath.
