Myths of Christianity #1

1)      You will get fulfillment using your gifts.

Those who are intercessors, prophets, and seers know this is not always the truth.

Seers: If you have a powerful anointing for seeing in the spirit realm then you will see some negative things and it can be overwhelming. You actually don’t want to know some of this stuff. Yet, you are the first to see the ‘dragon in the room’ that others will not see it at all – not ever. They will think you are negative or a pessimist and say so.

This is not an easy or fun gift but it is a necessary gift for the body. You have to surrender your natural reactions (confrontation, reminding them of the warning, not hardening yourself to those in disobedience) and pray most of the time. There are times to confront (or better said discuss) and that is not fun either.

Everyone loves the person who unconditionally loves others. Eveybody wants to be the good cop and not the bad cop (I'm using the business metaphor). Nobody wants to share the awful truth. Nobody wants to step and do crisis intervention.

Nobody really wants to know the type of spirit operating in a person, group, or nation. They want to believe the good in people. Luke 9:23 speaks about taking up your cross daily. This means that in our walk with God we will have some sort of cross that is personal.

That being said, there will be times of joy and gladness when an assignment is accomplished and you hear, “Well done.” Or when see someone free from schizophrenia due to your intercession and their willingness to work with God.

But there are many who choose not to listen, or because they don't want to do the work they will call you judgemental. This makes it easier on their conscious. There are those who are popular (leaders) and they like their popularity and competency more than they want to do right by God. While others are adoring them you get to see that they are heading toward pride, or relying on their natural gifts instead of the supernatural, or they are propping up their ministry on what worked in the past (meanwhile God is moving in a whole new direction).

Prophet: Many times others have no idea why you are not celebrating the wonderful thing that is happening. They say: lightening up. The blessing has come. And you are thinking: Yeah, but it could've been a bigger, and better blessing had we gone the better way. I guess they chose good over God.

Intercessors: Sometimes God will drop a burden on you for a group of people such as for those in sex trafficking. You will feel the hurting people’s heart and God’s heart. You will pray through it emotionally with tears and hear ache as if it is happening to you. That is called identifying with the person you are interceding for.

This doesn’t happen to all intercessors but it may happen to you if: you have the gift of compassion or emotional discernment or an emotion bearing anointing or are called to crisis prayer.

Other times you may feel the spiritual atmosphere of a city or of a group and have to walk through the swamp of their emotions with them so they can get victory. This simply comes from being connected to the Vine. (John 15:4). You didn’t ask for that kind of gift but you must learn - through your personal relationship with God - how to use it.

You will not receive any attention from man regarding your assignments. Only you and God will know. Nobody even knows you pray such prayers from time to time. You don’t know when you will get the next call and it may be somewhat inconvenient.
