 Have you heard this song “Abraham’s blessings are mine,

                                                Abraham’s blessings are mine,

                                                I am blessed in the morning,

                                                I am blessed in the evening

                                                Abraham’s blessings are mine.”?

     Abraham’s blessings were from his friend, God, with whom he walked until the end of his life. Blessings are things that every sane person prays for and pursues vigorously. One salient point here is that blessings do not come without the right effort. The effort is both spiritual and physical.

     What was Abraham’s spiritual effort?

     Abraham was obedient to the commandment of his Creator. The walk of obedience started when he was commanded,

     “Get out your country,

      From your family,

      And from your father’s house,

      To a land that I will show you.”   Genesis 12:1.

     This was the beginning of his obedient walk with his friend. God filled all other spaces created by his leaving “the comfort zone” to be alone with Him.

     Do you know that obedience did not end there?

     He was further instructed,

          “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be

           Blameless.”     Genesis 17:1.

     Abraham continued his obedience unto perfection. He obeyed the Lord his God and friend until his walk with Him became blameless.

     This then led to fulfilment of God’s promises and covenant. What was the covenant? God Almighty made it known to Abraham,

      “I will make you a great nation;

       I will bless you

       And make your name great,

       And you shall be a blessing.”     Gen 12:2

     About his blessings, the Holy Scriptures declare,

     “Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and

     In gold.”     Genesis 13:2.

     Do you know one interesting thing about this great man of Faith? He did not allow his wealth to spoil his children (child). He brought them up in the way of the Lord. Gen 18:19 states from the mouth of the Lord, his God,

     “For I have known him, in order that he may

      Command his children and his household after

     Him that they keep the way of the Lord...”

     Isaac was the son of this rich man. He was a righteous man. He feared the Lord and obeyed Him. The Holy Bible records,

      “The man began to prosper, and continued prospering,

       Until he became very prosperous”     Gen 26:13.

      The man, Isaac, not only sustained his father’s wealth, he also multiplied it in uprightness.

     Is that the end of the wealth? No!

     Both his children Esau and Jacob also prospered in their undertakings. Each of them declared “I have enough” (Gen 33:9, 11).

     Their wealth grew from “I have enough” to an extent that

          “...their possessions were too great for them

     To dwell together, and the land... could not support them

     Because of their livestock.”   Genesis 36:7.

     Oh, what a generational wealth!

     One central point is the righteousness of those who are involved in wealth. To acquire wealth, do so in righteousness. Do you have wealth bestowed on you? Maintain and multiply it in uprightness. Do not forget that “Righteousness exalts a nation”. It has same effect on individuals.

     Be righteous.

     Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord.
