Genesis 3: 8 And THEY HEARD THE SOUND OF THE LORD GOD walking in the garden in the cool of the day,…
Exodus 3:4
3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”
4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.”
5 Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” 6 Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.
1 Samuel 3:1-21 now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation. … and while Samuel was lying down, 4 that the Lord called Samuel.
Acts 2:17-18 (KJV)
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
God still speaks to man like in the days of old, he does not change, His communication method was easy and direct in the Garden of Eden before man ‘fell’ into the miry clay of iniquity. This purposeful ‘change/alteration’ in the relationship with mans maker automatically erected a dividing wall in between the two!
How does God speak: Through His word (the Bible), reason why quiet time in Bible study is important,Through dreams, through ‘the’ still small voice, through His ministers/preachers, through people/ angels (not necessarily with wings or of a particular skin colour!) these often are made manifest as known people and total strangers, through HIS spirit within YOU(Proverbs 20:27; 1 Corinthians 2:11 ), through a vision(Acts 16:9)… a flash or a time consuming ‘video play’, through Christian music/songs and several other ways.
Hearing the voice of God takes principles, humility and soberness of heart.
The Christian who wants to continually hear from God will learn to say SPEAK LORD and not LISTEN LORD! It seems that it is a ‘trend’ these days to talk non-stop just to be seen to be able to ‘hold-a-conversation’ and be an impressionable orator. Before God, this simply means TALKING TOO MUCH!
