In the frenzy of buying last minute Christmas presents,

In the scuffle of writing a million Christmas cards,

When my mind is too busy thinking about Christmas tree decorations,

Or setting up the Christmas lights, making the house spotless,

Or doing the last minute grocery shopping, ticking off the to-do list,

Or taking the kids to the carols,

Or making sure all the presents are wrapped and neatly stacked under the tree,

Or making sure every stocking is full with just the right number of gifts,

Or spending hours slaving away in the kitchen,

Preparing the perfect Christmas feast for the family,

Help me Lord to take the time and remember,

And be filled with awe and thanksgiving again,

That two thousand years ago,

Your unfathomable love was made known,

In the weakness,

Of a baby lying in a manger.
