Encouragement

When I unexpectedly came back to my home in California several months ago, after living in Gran Canaria Spain as a missionary for a few months, I wondered if my missionary days were over. I was very saddened by the fact that I was back home because I didn't hear God tell me to leave the mission field. 

Then I realized that California is also a mission field. Though it's not the kind of mission field I would prefer, there are many refugees and other broken people here who don't know the love of Jesus. While I may not know where I'm going next, location-wise, I know I'm called to be a missionary of the Gospel and to see people saved. 

We cannot live for ourselves when there are people who are dying and going to hell without ever getting to meet Jesus. We have that responsibility to bring Heaven to earth and to demonstrate the love of God to these people. Life is too short to just build a comfortable life for ourselves while there are depressed and suicidal people who don't have the hope that we have. 

Instead of just going to church on Sundays, we need to be the church to those around us every single day. Christianity is not an organized religion where we follow a set of religious principles to show the world how much better we are than them, but it's a love relationship with a good Father who wants us to lay our lives down for people we may think don't deserve it.
