The Father's Voice Is Heard

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Matthew 3:17 NIV

 

The voice of the Father did not speak for the benefit of Christ. Jesus knew that He was God, and that He came from the Father. He did everything the Father asked of Him. So, He knew that the Father was pleased with Him.

 

The Father’s words were for the benefit of those there, present with Christ.

 

To those who were confessing their sins, and repenting, it was a confirmation of who Jesus was, the Son of God. What a blessing to have heard the voice of the Father. How much more must those hearts that belonged to Christ have felt.

 

For the Pharisees and Sadducees, those whose hearts were closed to Christ, it was a warning. We know though, that they would say anything other than it was the voice of God that spoke to them. They would never listen to God with their hearts.

 

Let your heart listen to God. He shall speak to you if you listen.

Good solid message, Roland, that God, who is truth, speaks to us when He tells us His son completed His mission to redeem us.
