Dear friend,
As people of God, I believe that no shackles are powerful enough to restrain us from any remarkable blessing of God, whether physical, or our fears, unbelief, suspicion, including of course the traditions of men that make God’s Word ineffective!

Isn’t it interesting to know that Elijah, the renowned prophet in the Bible, didn’t have pity on the widow of Zeraphath, when he asked her to give her last meal, in a famine situation? See 1Kgs.17:1-24. That was because the sage knew from God’s Word, that it’s virtually impossible to support God’s servant, working for God, without attracting divine support to yourself!

If you’re experiencing lack, then, this is the right time to take a bold step of faith and give, to overcome and crush that nasty lack! God is not here to pity you, He has come in the person of Christ Jesus to bless you according to His Word. So, it’s time to give, and have real freedom.

Consequently, the prophet, Elisha, Elijah’s successor, didn’t consider the benevolence and hospitality of the rich, but barren woman from Shunem improper or irrelevant, since the experienced minister knew that God is faithful to a fault when it comes to “avenging”, recompensing or paying back our good deeds in multiple folds, even when we lack the faith to believe it! See 2Kgs.4:8-17. We can never over give. We can never out give God! When we delay our giving, we delay our freedom to receive the blessings.

Little wonder then, that Jesus Christ didn’t consider it inappropriate or callous to ask a depressed, dejected and bankrupt fisherman, Peter, to give in his bankrupt, deplorable situation. Since Jesus, the wisdom of God, knew that God commands us never to be indebted to anyone. God therefore would never owe anyone, and that includes you! See Lk.5:1-11. We must endeavour to give generously, especially to support God’s projects, programs and mandates to the needy and unsaved. His rewards transcend eternity. See 2Cor.9:6-8; Lk.18:29,30; Rev.14:13.

In the book of Isaiah, the 58th chapter, God promised to reward us because of our compassion for the afflicted. Expect Him to intervene to meet your needs too. God will pay you back far more you gave. Lk.6:38. Cheerful, generous giving brings FREEDOM! We’re freed to receive God’s promises, favour and blessings, even in hard contrary times! We’re freed to become God’s beloved and specialty, like generous Abel in the book of Genesis.

That fear and suspicion in our hearts about giving are sure signs that God wants to give us FREEDOM into His goodies. Be bold, do it by faith. Release your generous gifts and then watch God keep his promise to provide, protect, and bless you in diverse ways. God is not after your downfall, but after your welfare, well being, and wants you to have great godly wisdom in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!
