I held you in my dreams
With no inch of distance between us
Heaven came down for a while
Right into the folds of my arms.

I held you in my dreams
What moments were longed for secretly at times
I got to live that part of my heart
Where it all seemed so explicit and true.

I held you in my dreams
The sound of your vibrant voice
Spoke the words to my anticipating soul
It added extra life to the time being spent.

I held you in my dreams
The secure feeling of your hands
Reassured my fingertips
As we made the walk with memory's grip.

I held you in my dreams
Defeated the fate that kept us apart
Even destiny could not overtake this moment
For God was in control right now.

I held you in my dreams
Knew that this vision was the Lord's work
Giving us a taste of reality in another world
Sublime joy to linger long after the sleep.

I held you in my dreams
The closeness was too good to hold and relish
For dreams are not just only dreams
But a far greater mystical power
Of uniting souls with a deep love.
