Joy to this world? Is that possible?
‘Joy to the World’ is one of my Christmas Carol favorites. The lyrics reveal the reason for the season. I can have joy in my life and I don’t have to wait until Christmas.
Yes, the LORD has come. He is in our midst.
Jesus wants to share His joy…
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
‘As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
‘These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full (John 15:7-11 NKJV).”
I can experience true joy.
“But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves (John 17:13 NKJV).”
Jesus gave joy significance. He wants the best for us; that includes having His joy.
“Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10b NKJV).”

Every year, some people give up part of their Christmas Day and hold a Christmas meal for the homeless. As I point out in my blogs each year on this occasion, this is the true meaning of Christmas. Many homeless people don't have family to spend Christmas Day with, and it's a noble thing to do for them.
I may miss the meal this year, as I've been day camping at the nursing home with Sandi, who has cancer. In this case, why wait for Christmas to spread goodwill? Sandi is here by herself. Her family only visits occasionally, and I put myself in her shoes. God empowered me to do this.
