The Bible's God has always been a God of covenants. A "covenant" is an agreement by two or more persons. One person promises to provide something as long as the other person honors the covenant's terms. God has promised (assertively agreed) to never leave, nor forsake and always provide for His obedient children (Exodus 19:5; Hebrews 12:24; Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 13:5-6; Matthew 6:25-34; John 15:10-15).
