DIVISION

When you stop to consider briefly
The turns and twists of your life
You can settle some matters completely
Like the sheen on a fresh palette knife.

For the colors all stand out distinctly
And some sense comes to play on the whole
It's not all just a jumbled assortment
It's complete, when the Lord takes control.

I have fought in a madman's cruel vengeance
To be free from the shackles of Him
And to do just whatever I wanted
But the chains, I soon found, were my sin.

No freedom in blatant rebellion
No peace in my mocking His grace
No joy in a death-washed delusion
No love in the mirror's bitter face.

To be right with the One
Who created all rightness
There's a goal
There's a start
There's a song.
And forgiven by my blest Redeemer,
I will travel His road that leads home.
