Strolling through the botanical garden observing the beauty of the red, yellow, and white roses brought amazement and a warm, fuzzy feeling to my soul. Their brilliant colors and their refreshing aroma filtering in the air made me want to camp out in the garden all day.   I just had such a feeling of peace and joy showering within me. 

Then I stopped and reminisced back to my childhood, to my mother’s rosebush. I remembered how she faithfully cared for her rosebush. She would water and fertilize the soil,  prune the rosebush of dead and damaged branches so healthy growth would prevail. Because of my mother’s attention, the most amazing rosebush with sparkling red roses stood in our garden during the summer months. Then a second thought came to mind. Proper care of a rosebush produces blossoming roses, so proper care of oneself  can produce a prospering individual. Of course, people require a different kind of care, but there is just as much value for commitment needed for ones’ care.  

Like a gardener cultivating the soil with nutrients in order to produce a healthy rosebush, a person must learn life skills in order to cultivate their mind, body, and soul. Cultivating the mind with positive thoughts and pruing negativity, strengthening the body with nourishing food and plenty of rest,  and nurturing the soul with self-love.
