Psalm:91: 15 –“He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him”.

About a month ago, I was getting on a flight to go somewhere. The flight took off smoothly and in few minutes, I couldn’t see the land because of the stormy clouds and my heart was pounding like crazy. After few minutes, the seat belt sign was on and the pilot announced that there will be turbulence due to the weather. Oh boy! That was enough for me to panic and I started worrying too much. The flight started going up and down. I sat down there with so much uncertainty and worry. And that time, Psalm 91 came to my mind. I immediately started reciting it few times. And every time I recited that, I felt God will protect me and take care of me. And I thank the Lord for protecting me. The experience was like, He gave me the peace amidst the storm instead of clearing the storm. God nudged this thought into my mind that I should write about this experience relating to what struggles we face and how we need to be reminded that God is always there to listen, protect and rescue.

This experience of mine might be something normal for many frequent travellers. The reason to why I am saying this is because, a guy sitting on the other side of the flight was reading a newspaper with his legs crossed when I was freaking out the whole time. And I was like, Am I overreacting? Anyhow, I landed safe and Psalm 91 just kept me calm all throughout the flight. God is good!!!

Many times in life, we panic over things and it just takes all the energy out of us. This experience taught me, to rely on God for His protection, guidance and His word to get me through stormy paths. His word (Psalm 91) just calmed me down when I couldn’t utter the words to pray. His word gave me the peace that the storm will pass. His word reminded me that, God is watching over me and has sent His angels to watch over me. Psalm 91 has been my power back up all the time because it gives me assurance from every verse that I am safe in God’s hands. Panic must be replaced with peace. God is there with us whether it’s high turbulence or low turbulence. God’s love for His children is so intense that we can feel Him the moment we call unto Him. Rely on God’s word and know He will protect and give you peace.

Dear Abba Father in Heaven,

You are marvellous in all Your works. The works of Your hands are beyond compare. Your love for us is so deep that we cannot even fathom. Lord, You are our shield and our refuge in times. Lord, we seek Your protection in our lives. Lord, give us Your peace that passeth all understanding.  In Jesus Christ name. Amen.

God bless you.
